Rioja
On Tuesday we caught the train from San Sebastian to Miranda de Ebro, a small town in the Rioja wine region. The 2 hour journey was nice and relaxing and we saw some beautiful scenery.
We then caught a taxi to our hotel, the amazing Hotel Marques de Riscal. The hotel was designed by Canadian architect Frank Gehry and is just wonderful! It looks fantastic and is luxurious without being snobby. We are certainly enjoying being spoiled!
Last night we had an amazing 21 course degustation dinner. So much food, so inventive and just delicious. We had so much fun that daddy even did a dab for Ella and Angus!
The weather today was beautiful and sunny, so we borrowed bikes and went for a ride to the next village so we could visit some wineries. It was only 6km, but mummy struggled with the hills!
The view from the town, Laguardia, located on the top of a hill, was amazing. One of the wineries wasn't open, but we wanted to see it because of its architecture. It was quite spectacular.
It was a beautiful way to spend a day.
Tonight we are having a simple dinner in the local town, Elciego, before catching another train to Burgos tomorrow.
